There are four Jewish New Years, yes, four! This w There are four Jewish New Years, yes, four! This week we celebrate Tu Bishvat, the New Year for the Trees. In Israel, the almond blossoms begin to appear and in colder climates the sap begins rising through the trees to end their winter hibernation and get ready for the Spring. 

This Tu Bishvat our Director of Programs and Education Rabbi Lily Solochek, invites you to ask yourself: what seeds am I planting to end college hunger?

Meet our new Advocacy Intern! Robyn grew up in Buc Meet our new Advocacy Intern! Robyn grew up in Bucks County, PA. Currently a sophomore honors student at Temple University, she is working towards her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies. She is most passionate about food security and animal welfare. In her free time, she enjoys music, yoga, and reading. Please join us in welcoming to Robyn to the Nazun team!
We are so happy to share that Taylor Cohen, Samant We are so happy to share that Taylor Cohen, Samantha Berinsky, Hannah Loffman, Carol Christensen, Tony Payton Jr., and Arienne Gleiser are the newest Nazun Board Members. They are all joining the board with a weath of knowledge and experience and we are so grateful to have them on our board as we work to develop communities of leaders eager to take action to end campus hunger and work collectively to solver other urgent social challenges. Please join us in welcoming them to our board.
Congratulations to Washington University, Universi Congratulations to Washington University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Virginia, Clark University, and Princeton University for collectively raising $11,785, close to half of our total profits from the Fall 2022 semester! In total, we raised $31,325 to donate to our national philanthropic partner, Swipe Out Hunger, and the local groups of our chapters choosing. Everything we were able to raise and donate this past semester is thanks to all of our chapters and their hard work!
UPDATE! You may remember we initially postponed ou UPDATE! You may remember we initially postponed our Chai 18th Year celebration event from November of last year to March of this year. Unfortunately, due to a series of challenges, we have decided it is best to cancel the event. We appreciate your ongoing support of Nazun and the students with whom we partner on 80 campuses around the country and we look forward to continuing to work with you to end campus hunger.
We know getting back to campus can be exciting and We know getting back to campus can be exciting and stressful, with so much to do. To help ease your stress we have created a quick to-do list to help you get back on your feet after the break!

Before we announced our rebrand last year we spent Before we announced our rebrand last year we spent a long time deciding on what our new name should be and what it should reflect. We decided Nazun because it encompasses our values. Nazun means we will nourish. We nourish our communities through baking challah and by donating to food relief organizations. Additionally, we nourish our participants through leadership development and advocacy training.

Nazun has been fighting to end college hunger for years and we’re excited to celebrate this 18 year milestone with you, our community. Join us on March 2nd, at 7pm at James Beard Award winning chef, Michael Solomonov’s event space, Lilah in Philadelphia. 

This special event will honor the university chapter that has had the largest impact since our founding in 2004 as well as remarks by Nazun’s CEO, Rebecca Bar. As generous supporters of our mission, we’d love to celebrate with you!
